What is Minecraft?
Minecraft, made by Mojang, is a blocky 3D world where you can design and build the environment with a variety of materials. Minecraft seems to be everywhere. You can play Minecraft on a computer, tablet, or console.

Minecraft Terminology
Creative Mode: A type of gameplay in Minecraft where you can freely build your world without being attacked. In Creative Mode, you have unlimited resources, health and experience.
Survival Mode: This mode is similar to Creative Mode except you can be attacked and die, and have limited resources.
Hardcore Mode: This mode is similar to Survival Mode except that when you die, your whole world is deleted.
Minecraft PE vs. Minecraft: You can play Minecraft on a computer, a console, or a mobile device. Minecraft PE is played on a mobile device. There is a free and a paid version of Minecraft PE. You can play Minecraft on a computer or console as well. The worlds in the mobile versions are not compatible with the worlds in the computer and console versions.
Mod: A Mod is a set of files that can be used to modify your Minecraft game to have specific goals, visuals and/or gameplay.
Skin: You customize the look of your character by changing the skin. You can edit and create a skin yourself, or you can download a skin off of one of the many skin websites around. Here’s a pretty good site that has Minecraft skins.
Stampy:Stampy Longnose is a famous YouTube user who makes videos of himself playing Minecraft with friends. I think Stampy’s videos are kid friendly.
