The other day I was quizzing my 1st grade son on a list of words that he had to be able to spell. There were quite a few of them. I’m going to say that there were about fifty of them. After getting through some particularly long ones, my son asks me if I could do the ‘Z’ one.

I was assuming he knew the Z word was zoo and that it was fairly easy. So I said, “OK, the Z word is zibblebibble.” He started cracking up and then proceeded to spell zibblebibble properly, according to the dictionary of Elbonics.

Somehow the word zibblebibble kept coming up after that point. This evening, he asked me, “what if zibblebibble was a real word?” I said, “it could be if enough people used it and if it actually meant something.”

We decided to define the word zibblebibble. Zibblebibble means to knock over an animal. Initially it was to knock over a rhino, but we didn’t want to discriminate, so we said any animal can qualify for a zibblebibble.

If you ever knock an animal over, or see an animal being knocked over, describe it as a classic or particularly harsh zibblebibble. If we can get this into the dictionary within a year, we’ll call it a success.

UPDATE: I did a search in Google for zibblebibble and there are actually three pages of results – our movement is gaining steam!
