Today we chased down the Space Shuttle Endeavour again. This time, it wasn’t as hard to follow because it wasn’t moving. We headed out at lunchtime towards Westchester, which is only about 3 miles away or so. Our plan was to park in the neighborhoods and walk over.

From the CNN live feed, it didn’t seem like there were a lot of people there, although I was watching it at around 6:30am. I figured that everyone had gotten their fill of the shuttle when it was flying over town. I didn’t think there’d be that many people out there.

When we turned down 83rd we could see that there were already a lot of cars parked on the side of the street. I thought I’d turn right and go toward the shuttle, but there was no parking. I had to circle around and go back to 83rd where we saw one parking spot. Woohoo!

We walked over, following the large crowds heading towards the shuttle. Our first sight was the tail poking above the top of a building. When we went around the building, we got a good view of the left side of the shuttle.

We were able to go up some stairs behind the shuttle, up to a balcony and see back of the shuttle up close.

After lunch we went to the other side of Endeavour, the right side. The lighting was better on this side and there was more space/less people, although there were still a LOT of people. Despite the thousands of people that did show up, traffic wasn’t that bad. I wonder if (the other) people listened to what the LAPD said and stayed away.
