On Thursday, FishBoy and I went back to Petco to see if we could buy some plants for the fish tank. The salesman who sold us Bonchew told us to come back on Thursday because that’s the day that they usually receive new stock. They had a special going where if you buy two aquarium plants you get one free.

We looked around the fish section for a while. There were no employees in sight. After a while I realized that it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to buy new plants that were big and eye-catching and would cause FishMom to notice something different. We decided against buying plants and went home.

The past few days I think FishBoy has been getting antsy because he’s always looking over at me and saying “Bonchew” when FishMom is around. I usually reply with a “Bless you,” which always brings up a good laugh. The other day I swear FishMom was staring toward the tank with a look that says, “what the heck is that?”

I thought the jig was up when FishMom felt compelled to clean up the pile of mail covering the front of the tank. She probably spent a good ten minutes sorting through the mail. She didn’t mention anything. The mail pile only stands about two inches tall now. It was at about this time that I noticed that Bonchew was becoming less shy.

The fish usually get excited when they see a person near the tank. That’s a sign to them that it’s feeding time and the more that they flail about means that they’re ready to receive their food. With the smaller mail wall in front of the tank, I decided that Bonchew was too conspicuous and propped a Boston Market paper bag up to the side of the tank.
